Mediashout 3.5 on a Mac

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , , , , , , at 3:34 pm by charlesshyblosky

bootcamp_hero20071016.pngI’m very pleased so far with Bootcamp, an apple application which allows users to be able to run Windows on your Mac.  The Leopard OS comes standard with Bootcamp, and allows you to run all of your Windows stuff, if so desired.  This is great for churches that want to make the switch, but don’t have thousands of dollars to abandon their favorite Windows programs, such as Mediashout, and move over completely to Native Apple products. I call it the best of both worlds (eh, perhaps i’ve been exposed to too much of my daughters Hannah Montana music).   Anyway, I get phone calls all of the time, of churches wanting to make the switch, but want to bring their PC software with them.  This program is for you.    Have you made the switch yet?  Are you thinking about it?

Videos and Films that communicate a central idea in service planning. (part 1)

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , , , , at 5:49 pm by charlesshyblosky

filming.jpgI’m a big fan of churches that use some form of video to assist in communicating the overall message.  Especially if you are dealing with students that are wired for this type of thing.  It’s in their DNA to crave this stuff.  We just got through with a  series called,”Film School”  at my church.  Some of the movies we used were Spiderman 3 and Mean Girls.   I’m also a fan of Lifechurch.tv’s reoccuring character of “Satan” himself, recently reappearing this past week, HERE!  The Series is called, “How to BE rich”, check IT out HERE.  I just saw a set of posts from Boyd Bettis, called, “Ideas for your: Worship Environments..”Check it out HERE.  The videos that they use to start their services are very thematic with the message and help tie everything in together.  Notice the music selection with each piece.  Send me a link to some of the videos or films you guys are using at your place.  Thoughts?

The thing I like about these, the Expanse Collection, is that they are subtle enough to put behind the speaker during a message, and some would go perfect with worship.  Check them out:defy_expanse_l.jpg  HERE, check out all of the producers on the left hand column.

Triple Screen display made easy..

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , , , at 5:07 pm by charlesshyblosky

gxm_03oct06.jpgAfter seaching various ways to achieve the goal of triple screen display, I stumbled upon the Matrox TripleHead2Go.    For PC Presentation Software, this is a very affordable solution for churches that wish to take their services with a multiple screen format, one pc setup.   I’ve also seen this used for Architectural Projection in churches as well.  Camron Ware has really challenged me with how this could be used as well.  Mediashout has now started selling A “Bundle Package” with this included.   It also supports widescreen and DualHead modes.  You can actually run your Windows setup3_open_laptop_sm.jpgdesktop at up to 3840 x 1024 resolution stretched across three displays (1280 x 1024 per display).  Background producers are catching on to the triple screen craze, these two I have seen up close;  Defy Creative’s Expanse Series,  and Awake Images (check these guys out, they have over 400 Trip Screen backgrounds for FREE, yes, that’s right, FREE).  Have you tried this setup yet? What have you found that works for you?

Dead Man Walking…a man after God’s own heart

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , , , , at 3:23 pm by charlesshyblosky

I asked Chad, a good friend and committed volunteer at, Lifechurch.tv in Hendersonville, if I could share his story with you.  One year ago he died, and now he stands before us a new creation.  He is a walking testament of what God can, and will do in a person’s life.  God is good… Here it is in his own words…worship-worshipperweb.jpg  One year today, I was dead. After eight hours of exposure to carbon monoxide in my bedroom, I was discovered by two of God’s angels, Ashley and Brandon . From there I spent three days in a coma, during which time my family was told I would not live, then if I did live I would be a vegetable for the rest of my life–needing to be fed and my diapers changed. My condition then upgraded to I would live but would have to relearn all motor and cognitive functions (walking, reading, writing, etc). Five days after entering Erlanger in Chattanooga, I walked out under my own strength with no permanent damage except some hearing loss and a constant high-pitched ringing in my left ear, which I now consider a blessing as it is a reminder of the fact that my life was spared. All praise be to God!What a difference a year makes. Funny how that ultimate act of cowardice is what gave me the strength to confront who it was that I had become: a liar, a thief, and a drunk. After spending almost four months in intensive outpatient therapy dealing with what led me to my suicide attempt, I was able to put together a solid picture of why I did what I did and learn how to avoid ever doing it again. Still though, my life was in ruins. The best thing about your life being in a million pieces at your feet, though, is you get to decide which pieces you want to keep to put yourself back together.God has done much for me in the past year: bringing me back to Him (after one very dark night spent with my face in the carpet giving my life completely to Him), giving me a place of ministry (middle school boys at LifeChurch in Hendersonville), giving me a place where I can use what happened to me for good (a counselor on the Crisis phone lines at Family and Children’s Services in Nashville), and two jobs to enable faster restitution. He turned my anger at being prosecuted by the US Attorney for what I have done into gratitude–for it brought me to a place close enough to Him to hear His call into full-time ministry. He has let me know that He is the one who has gone ahead of me, He is with me, He will not fail or forsake me. Therefore, do not be afraid (Deuteronomy31:8). The lesson of Christ in Mark (8:36), “what does it profit a man to gain a whole world if it costs him his soul?” has hit home hard. In a word, nothing.>From here I wait to pay the price for what I have done, which could very likely put me in a Federal Prison Camp.  I am prepared for that, though as it will be a time to grow closer to God as He continues to prepare me for service to Him. Further, if I am sentenced to prison, there will be men in there who will need to know of the Good News of what God has done for them. Who better to tell it than one of them?! I can envision delivering my first sermons there which later will be delivered at the church I pastor as “The Prison Series”.  God has given me a vision for the church he will have me start: one where the unchurched and those considered outcast by mainstream fundamentalists are welcome. Prostitutes, junkies, addicts, alcoholics, gays and lesbians, single moms, the divorced, cheaters, liars, thieves, porn-addicts, doubters, those stricken with HIV/AIDS–those Jesus himself hung out with. And, at their head, an expert on the consequences of compromise, a convicted felon with a 1.19 million dollar restitution order. So, after divinity school (most likely at Vanderbilt) I will get started! It is now clear why God spared my life–He has work for me to do.

U2 in 3D, wow!

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , , , at 3:53 pm by charlesshyblosky

bono1.jpgLast night i went with this guy, to the 9:30 viewing of U2 in 3D, at Opry Mills.  It was on an Imax screen and I literally thought “The Edge” was sitting on my lap.  You can watch a sample, HERE… and HERE……Most Church Tech people can really appreciate concert backdrops, lighting, visuals, gear of choice, etc.  You can now experience it like you were there.  Check it out, you’ll come back with ideas on how you could do your sets differently.  Hint:  Sometimes simpler is better.  Viewers will get an opportunity to sport their 3D glasses and unwind as U2 does what they do best, entertain.   The special version was compiled by producer John Modell from over 100 hours of footage shot last year during the band’s Vertigo tour. The majority of the content is taken from two performances in Buenos Aires, Argentina before an audience of 90,000 people. The company that developed the technology is 3ality Digital, which approached U2 and arranged to film a single-camera test in 2005. 3ality has brought together a staff that has worked in almost every 3D live action and theme park film that has been made. The company has established the world’s largest 3D studios and R&D facilities. 3ality’s other work includes commercial production.   What’s next?  Church Production? When U2 3D was screened at the Cannes film festival earlier this year, one audience member said that it appeared at times that the performer’s limbs were about to come out of the screen. Two directors worked on the film; Catherine Owens, who has been responsible for producing the visuals for a number of U2 tours, and Mark Pellington, the director of the band’s video One. The overwhelming theme for the concert, was “Coexist”.  It also paid tribute to the Late MLK, fitting seeing how MLK day was Monday.  The film features hits including Sunday Bloody Sunday, With or Without You, The Fly and Beautiful Day.

photo_012008_002.jpgphoto_012008_001.jpgWe are so blessed to be surrounded by such talented people at the Hendersonville campus of Lifechurch.tvAndy Kirk led worship this past week, filling in for, the oh-so talented, Brandon Frazier.  This is the pic I took ofour 10am experience.  I’m blown away at what God is doing, our attendance has almost tripled in the past year, and we’ve completely outgrown our facilities.  How do you fit 500 people in a 2700,no, 3200, square foot space?  Only God knows.  We’ve seen 80 straight weeks where at least someone has accepted Christ for the first time.   Watch more about this HERE!  What are some of the things that you are pumped about when it comes to your church?
