Vandy/Auburn pics..Gameday

I’m glad I got to go to the game, even though I had a chance to go over to Knoxville to see UT/NIU.  Both would have been nice.  Marc P, Jeremy Maurer, and myself had a goodtime tailgating, and catching up.  Vandy held the game close for 4 quarters, and made it to the bell, coming out on top….14-13….Go dores….i guess…So much for Corso’s prediction…;)

If we do this to each other, just wait till we get ahold of UCLA on Monday..

Football season is HERE, and back in dramatic fashion last night.  Vandy beat an always game, Miami of Ohio.. SC beat up NC State, despite the starting qb throwing 4 INT’s.  And GT got things rolling with a big win.  So, UT goes into the Rose Bowl on Monday, with a chip on their shoulder.  They lost to Cal last year in the season opener, and hopefully they’ll show up this time in the balmy SoCal scene.  A buddy of mine just started blogging, and has some great thoughts on UT and the season, check his blog out HERE

Things I’m looking to see this weekend…

  1. The Claw-fence:  UT has a new offensive co-ordinator, and a new starting qb.  Noone is quite sure what offense we’ll be running,  and i’ll be sure to DVR it, so i can disect it later….:)
  2. How well will Norm Chow gameplan for our Defense?  With the Third String QB?
  3. LSU vs. Appalachian State.  Should be a great game, with lots of offense.
  4. UF vs. Hawaii.  Yeah, Hawaii is down this year, but hey, Tebow is fun to watch…
  5. Louisville vs. Kentucky.  Battle in the Bluegrass State.  Hope UK pulls it out..
  6. OU vs. UChatt.  Ok, this will be a blowout, but hope that the Mocs represent…

So, thats it, what are you watching this weekend?  More DNC?  Pro Football?

Who’s your pick to win it all in college football?  Against who?   (leave me a comment) 🙂

Back from Vacation, er, hiking in the GSMNP….

  • Hawaii trip postponed due to Aloha, ATA going belly up, thanks guys, great week to cancel my flights.  Bankruptcy sucks..
  • So, i still wanted to get out somewhere, so I chose the most remote location in the  Eastern US, the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Appalachian Trail.  Jon and I tackled a 24 mile section from Clingman’s Dome to Cades Cove.  Not necessarily a relaxing vacation, but breathtaking views, scenic vistas, and unforgettable memories.
  • We got to see lots of Thru-Hikers on their way to Maine.  At the pace they were headed, they could reach Katahdin by October.  5 stone, andTee the Colonol stuck out to me, a gulf war vet doing something he’d always wanted to do, also a father and son that knock out 70 miles or so every spring break.  Due to so much rain, no one was spared from huge blisters, and many were considering their options.  Check them out on trail  journals, so this could be fun to track their journey.
  • Highlight of the trip:  Summitting Rocky Top.   For those not familiar with the song, click HERE!
  • I’m glad to be back, lots of neat things coming down the path of life.
  • Sure was nice, after living a life completely Media-driven, and plugged in, to just unplug for a week.  wow…

Monday Morning Musings…

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 12:01 pm by charlesshyblosky

  •  My verse for the week:

  • 1 Cor 15:58   Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

  • Do you ever feel like your labor for the Lord is in vain?  leave me a comment.

  • How about the Vols.  We rapped up our first SEC Basketball Title in 40 years, and did so with a 30 point victory yesterday versus SC.  Wow, Pearl has this team focused and ready for SEC tourney play.  I wish I could go down to the ATL on Friday for the second round games.

  • I got to go to the SEC women’s tournament in Nashville (see pic), with this guy.  How about those Lady Vols, upsetting the LSU Tiger-ettes.  Fowles is amazing, CP3 (candace parker) is even better.

  • 5 students accepted Christ last Wednesday at Switch, and I get to speak again this week, no pressure, I hear a special guest will be in attendance.

  • We had 3 inches of snow, in Nashville over the weekend, and it was ALL GONE, by noon on Sunday.  You gotta love the weather here.

prince_jp_ap_260.jpg24ten_xlarge3.jpgHere are some thoughts on a great weekend.

  • The Vols topple previous unbeaten, #1 Memphis, locally known as Tiger High, to Claim the #1 rank for Mens Basketball.  Wow, what an amazing game!
  • Is Bruce Pearl not a Genius?  This guy has taken us a long ways, in a short amount of time.  We may not be the best team, but we are the #1 team.
  • Friday, I got taken to lunch by Pastor Brandon, of Lifechurch.tv HNV.   This guy is a musical freak.  I love this guy.
  • Sunday we continued our “Hostage Series”,  this is intense, and i’m thinking my feet just got stepped on……in a good way.
  • Snow one day and 62 degrees the next?  I’m ready for Spring…
  • I got my tix to the Vandy/Vols showdown tomorrow night.  SWEET!

Prayers and thoughts for the Tornado Victims

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , , , , at 12:01 pm by charlesshyblosky

  • The tornado sirens were enough to freak alot of people out. I don’t know many people that got a full nights rest.  I think I got about 2 hours of sleep.
  • Kind of made for a restless game to watch, UT pounded UF badly, trying to enjoy the game between frequent updates from the wifey, via text msgs.
  • I can’t believe the damage, and even more disturbing the loss of life here.
  • This story, on Pam Whitaker, brought tears to my eyes.
  • art_whitaker_cnn.jpgWatch the Video of her explaining what happened, HERE.
  • Looks like my Church’s Mission Trip to New Orleans, is being switched to do it HERE, in our own County, for Spring break.
  • Please continue to pray for Pam, and the countless other victims of the recent storms.  Its a sad day.
